Antwerp, Belgium

Hi friends!

Life has been busy over here lately! We have been traveling like crazy, we've had visitors, and my German classes have resumed!

Hopefully this week I can get you caught up on all the fun places we have been lately!

A couple of weekends ago Blake asked me if I wanted to go to Antwerp in the morning. I said SURE! How fun! :) So we booked a cheap hotel, and set out for the road. It was supposed to be only about 4.5 hours in the car. Well a stretch of the highway was shut down and we sat in what is quite possibly the WORST traffic jam I have ever experienced. 8 hours later we checked in to our hotel, and set out for a beer! :)

Walking to a beer bar.

Belgium is famous for many things, one being beer!

We went to Paters Vaetje - a well known beer bar in the main square. Next to the Cathedral of Our Lady. We thought it would be over crowded and expensive (due to its location), but it was a lovely stop! They had tons of Belgian beers for us to try and they were really reasonably priced.

We strolled by Antwerp City Hall on our way back to the hotel. We turned in early to ensure we would be fully charged for a day of exploring!

First up: breakfast. Belgian waffles, Dutch doughnuts, and lattes!
It was a sweet, sweet breakfast!

After this we strolled through the Antwerp Diamond District.

My umbrella with the castle. ;)

Before we headed home we stopped in a chocolate shop and a beer shop and got the most delicious Belgian treats to take home. :)

If you are planning a trip to Brussels, I highly recommend a quick stop in Antwerp.
